This is a highly customizable cycling shoe. Everything on the Sidi Energy is replaceable and everything is adjustable, ensuring a good fit. In making this shoe, the folks at Sidi made some changes to their traditional design. First, the Velcro straps on the lower part of the shoe were replaced with a knob-ratchet system with mini-Kevlar laces. You simply flip up a knob and twist, and the Kevlar gets more tightly wound around the knob mechanism, making it easy to tighten to standard quickly. To release tension, all you do is flip a little lever on the side of the knob, and the Kevlar is instantly let loose. This system is very precise, and it’s easy to tighten the shoe while cycling.
The top closure of the shoe has what is called an “arch compression strap”. This is a piece of plastic that you can adjust across the top of the shoe, causing the centre strap to line up with your arch. This means that when you ratchet the strap down, your foot is compressed in the most even way possible. The strap ratchet utilises Ultra Buckle technology. Unlike other recent buckles, it is made with alloy parts that are almost impossible to break.
The sole of the shoe has a replaceable heel with a fully adjustable torsion bar embedded in it. All it takes is a simple twist to adjust the stiffness of your shoe for whether you’re sprinting or riding leisurely. Ultimately, you can fine tune the Sidi Energy shoe to ensure maximum comfort at all times.
This shoe is the ultimate customizable shoe. Everything moves or twists and can be tweaked just to your liking. Extremely durable too, the Sidi Energy shoe should last you for many years. One minor drawback may be that the shoe can be a little tricky to adjust because it’s so unique. There’s no toe guard either, and the colors might not be to everyone’s tastes, but overall this is a great shoe for road cyclists.
